Searching, Ever Searching

I looked beyond this earthly scene
Searching for that glastic sea,
Staring thru tear stained eyes
Found emptiness staring back at me.

I traveled far over hill and dale
With only one goal in mind,
Seeking one who knew the way;
But alas, not one could I find.

Up lofty mountain peaks I climbed
From shore to shining shore I trod,
My journey seemed all in vain,
No one knew where to find a Holy God.

I searched across the burning dessert;
I was buffeted by the ocean spray,
I asked a thousand weary souls
But not one knew the way,

A million miles of earnest searching,
To return to a loving mother's smile,
"You need but to bow on bended knee's
You'll find him in humble prayer my child."

I traveled this sin sick world,
Made many a wasted trip,
Only to return home for my answer,
From a loving mother's lips.

Oh, I like that prodigal son of years gone by
I had to learn in the hogpen of sin;
Then I heard my Heavenly Father say
"Welcome home my son.  Where have you been?"
