Why Must I Always Do Without ?
While others smell the roses;
Must I only feel the thorns?
While others bask in sunshine;
Must I weather all the storms?
While others view the rainbow;
Must I be drenched in cloudbursts?
While others drink in the raindrops;
Must I nearly die of thirst?
While others see the beautiful;
Must I only see the ugly side?
While others walk by faith;
Must I live with fear inside?
Why does it always happen,
While I weep, others wear a smile?
Why is it that I'm always lacking?
"Because you fail to ask, my child!"
While others have an abundance;
Must I always do without?
While others rest contented;
Must I scurry all about?
While others find companionship;
Must I become an outcast?
While others win the races;
Must I always come in last?
While others escape aches and pain;
Must I suffer without relief?
While their lives run so smooth;
Must I suffer all this grief?
Why is it others go trouble-free;
While my every move defiles?
I ask, Lord, give me one good reason?
"Because you fail to ask, my child!"
Carl L. Hempen
Life works that way for the very obvious reason that we
fail to look to God for solutions to life's greatest problems.
