The Death Angel's Coming
What will you be doing, perhaps
Telling a joke or two,
Standing around with the fellows
When the 'Death Angel' visits you.
Will you be in the prime of life
Or will your hair be white as snow,
It matters little whether you're young or old
When the 'Death Angel' calls, you must go.
You may endure a lingering illness
Or be a picture of health they say,
It may seem a shame we have to go
But the 'Death Angel' works that way.
Many never consult God in this life
They foolishly plan things far ahead,
They make great plans for the future
The 'Death Angel' comes, and they're dead.
The Bible warns, 'Prepare to meet Thy God"
Death thrusts us out into Eternity,
Saved or lost, He's still coming
Then my friend, where will you be?
Just as sure as we're living
One day we're going to have to die,
That's one appointment we'll keep
The 'Death Angel's coming after you and I.
That's a promise from God's Eternal Word
It will come to pass I guarantee,
We may live in folly, not believing,
But someday the 'Death Angel' is coming for you and me.
You may be at home in deep meditation,
You may be out living in sin,
The saved and lost die untimely deaths
And the 'Death Angel' gathers them in.
There's no way to escape the Reaper,
Rest assured, someday the curtain will fall,
Today is the day of Salvation
Tomorrow the 'Death Angel' may call.
It's not where or when or the circumstances
That will determine your Eternal fate,
It's whether you've made peace with God
Before the 'Death Angel' stands at your gate.
When we see the morning sun come up
We're not sure we'll see it go down,
Somewhere between morning and evening
The 'Death Angel' may come around.
The good and bad, the rich and poor
To all death becomes a reality,
Someday our goals, whether reached or not, stops;
And we're hurled into Eternity.
The Door of Heaven's still open
And Jesus still holds the Key,
You have these few precious moments
To prepare for Heaven's Eternity.
Then you can sleep, knowing you're safe
Should the 'Death Angel' visit your bed,
The 'Death Angel' will carry your Soul to Heaven
If you'll trust in the Blood the Savior shed.
