What if God suddenly withdrew his grace
 And left poor sinners where they fell,
What if He closed the Pearly Gates,
 And opened up the charred dark door of eternal hell?

What if God cut off Heaven's prayer line
 And left us to wander aimlessly in despair,
What if He took no time to listen
 As we come to Him in prayer?

What if God had turned away that day
 And left us forever lost,
What if He had caught up our sacrifice
 As men gazed upon that old rugged cross?

What if we don't completely understand;
 Just trust the Spirit to lead the way,
Follow the teaching of God's eternal Word
 As you teach, and preach, and pray.

What if things have been withheld
 Just wait till the Spirit draweth near,
Trust all the mysteries to Jesus
 And you'll have nothing more to fear!
