If God Was Dead
Satan stood on the pinnacle of earth boasting
"Some said this could never be,
But God is dead, you hear he's dead
And His domain belongs to me."
I sprang from bed and troubled slumber
Shaken by this awful scene,
I pondered long o'er this world's fate
If this was more than just a terrible dream!
If God was dead, there would be:
No light to light our pathway,
No Word to nourish our famished soul,
No forgiving Spirit to quench our thirst,
No hope of eternal goals!
No ear to hear, no eye to see,
No answer to our prayers,
No promise of Eternal Life,
No chance of Heaven fair.
No one to call on in time of need,
No comfort when in sorrow,
No one to soothe our broken heart,
Or to cheer up our sad tomorrow.
No one to show compassion,
No one to wipe the tears away,
No one to grant us needed strength
To face each trying day.
No one to intercede for our sins,
Or hold our lives in check,
No one to seek us when we go astray,
Nor restore, when our lives become a wreck.
No peace of mind could we have,
No rest upon our dying bed,
No angel to bear our soul away,
When at last we are dead.
Praise God, it's all just a hateful lie!
Old Satan's not so clever!
Heaven and earth shall pass away;
But our God shall live forever!
