Lord, Must It Always Be This Way

So many little children suffering
With so many great big tears to shed,
So many broken hearted orphans
Abused until they're almost dead.

So many little neglected children
Many needing hugs and kissing,
So many starved for attention;
Many parents that are missing.

So many children thrown into bed
Without a word or prayer,
So many left to cry themselves to sleep;
So many parents that don't seem to care!

So many children left to fare alone
With parents sitting on a bar room stool,
So many physically abused
And left with the mind of a mental fool.

So many illegitimate children
Men and women living in fornicated shame,
So many fly-by-night lovers;
But not one to give a child a name.

So many unwanted and unloved children
Many falling victim to abortion's knife,
So many with lives snuffed out
Robbed of a chance to enjoy life!

So many who eventually become men and women
Many who grow up to live a life of sin,
Putting forth so much effort to break the hearts
Of Mom and Dad that's done so much for them?

And it's the bottom line that I'll never understand????
