Victory
Victory only comes to those in battle
The ones who willingly sacrifice,
The battle scars are part of the glory;
And sometimes in this life they must suffice !
We must be satisfied just breaking even
And knowing sometimes we'll go down in defeat,
We have to settle for an occasional draw;
Or, withdraw as the drummer plays retreat !
Yes, we win a few; and lose a few
And down here we'll wear the battle scars,
But thanks be unto Jesus; who else know's ?
That in the end He'll win the war to end all war's !
So lift up the blood stained banner high
Face the enemy of glory squarely all day long,
Someday you'll wear a crown of glory
And perhaps you'll lead the victory song !
And at long last when you stack arms
And the eyes of our commanding King we behold,
We'll know it's been worth the sacrifice;
When at last we step ashore on Heaven's streets of gold !
Bear your share of pain with patience,
Run the race, and wear your battle scars,
For all that the Son has will be your's
And rewards will outshine all of Heaven's stars !
