That's His Promise

Would you give the thirsty a glass of water
Those who's throats are parched and dry,
Would you share a morsel with a starving child
Or, answer a distress call when they cry ?

Would you visit the widow and the orphan
To be sure they have enough to eat,
Would you use your money
To put shoes or socks upon their feet ?

Would you reach the jailed in prison
And comfort the sinful and depressed,
Would you exhaust every effort
To leave them truly blessed ?

Would you lift the lame and afflicted
For them request God's healing hand,
Would you strive to rescue the perishing
And give the weak at heart the will to stand ?

Will tender words from your lips impart
To cheer an otherwise downcast soul,
Would you muster a bit of warmth
To thaw a bitter heart that's cold ?

Would you in loving kindness find a way
To cheer a soul in distress,
Would you point the way for such a one
To a path of serenity and happiness ?

Will you be an instrument of God's grace
To cheer, to lift and to set free,
He said, "If you do it unto the least of these,
My child, you've done it unto me !"
