Prepare Yourself
You cannot lead the sightless
If you yourself are blind,
Ask God to give you vision
That His way you'll surely find.
You cannot listen for the deaf
If His word you cannot hear,
So get in touch with Heaven
And listen loud and clear.
You cannot help the crippled
If you walk with selfsame way,
Search out God's chosen path
And walk where Jesus walks today.
You cannot help the unclean mouth
Until with tongue in cheek
You guard the words you use
And from a cleansed heart you speak.
You can't mend a broken heart
If per chance your's is broken too,
Get in touch with the Great Physician
He can do so much for you.
You can't help their many woes
Until you've walked with them for miles,
And felt their aches and pains
And paused to sympathize with them a while.
Be sure to recall, dear friend,
God also found you in dire distress,
'Twas He who lifted you so tenderly
And gave your soul much needed rest.
Go forth and do your very best to serve
Every down trodden soul you see,
And praise God for your good fortune
And rich indeed your life will be.
You can be a great inspiration
If you prepare before you start,
You can be a Saint in shining armor
And add joy to some sad and aching heart.
