My Bible and Me

We've traveled together down life's weary road
We've labored under many a heavy load
(My Bible and me.)
We've been cursed and discussed by many a man
But we haven't wavered from our ultimate plan
(My Bible and me.)
We've endured lots of criticism along the way
It will be worth it all on the Judgement Day . . . .
(Not for my Bible, but for me.)
It's perfect without spot, or blemish or error
You can depend on it in time of despair
(My Bible, not me.)
I'm not perfect, though I try living what I say
I'll have to give account on Judgement Day
(Not my Bible, but me.)
I've used my Bible traveling this weary trail
It's never let me down, nor will it ever fail
(My Bible, not me.)
I've failed and come short of God's glory many a day
But God's Word keeps me from going astray
(Not my Bible, but me.)
My Bible will endure forever;  it's God's eternal word
Through ceaseless ages 'twill be heard
(My Bible, not me.)
That's why we labor and enjoy our daily task
So one sinner turned saint might make Heaven at last
(My Bible and me.)
We'll witness together through life, in Heaven a soul to see
Will be worth all the scoffing and hatred to be
(Your witness, Lord; my Bible and me.)
