The Invitation Was A Reminder
I sang an invitation song this morning
It brought back memories of long ago
When I knelt before an old fashioned altar
And prayed to a God I didn't know !
I'll never forget the fear of His rejection
And how my heart near skipped a beat
As I came with my scarlet sins
And laid them at the Savior's feet !
I remember how Satan mocked my fears
And vowed it was all a pack of lies
And how I threw off his shackles
When I looked into the Savior's eyes !
I recall how light hearted I became
As I left my sins at mercy's seat
And the joy of sins forgiven and to know
At last my conversion was complete !
I remember when I was just a babe in Christ
When I came to witness, I was ashamed
When I grew into His eternal grace it was easier
To stand and pray in Jesus' name !
Yes, the song this morning was a reminder
Of the days when I lived in sin and strife,
And how I walked in total darkness;
Until Jesus came into my life !
I recalled the emptiness in my heart
And the way I lived and brought Him shame,
Until on that fateful morning,
I came to God, in Jesus name !
