People are always calling me;
Can't they see I'm busy,
When I'd spend time alone
Someone always on the phone,
When I'm busy ?

Must I be the one to care
If they have nothing to wear,
I'm busy !

When they have nothing to eat
Must I lay food at their feet,
When I'm busy ?

Why can't folks care for their own,
And just leave me alone,
When I'm busy !

Lord, can't you see me in this fire
Only a short while and I'll expire !
Are you busy ?

The pain more than I can stand !
Won't you give  me a helping hand ?
If you're not busy.

I'd like to help you, Lad;
Your situation looks pretty bad,
I'd really like to help you, Son,
But I've got to run;
